Making a special purchase or planning one of life's special events is exciting. Arranging financing won't spoil the fun if you take a little time to prepare.

Make sure you have the following information in hand when you come in for your loan interview.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Legal name, date of birth, social security number.
Number of dependents and their ages.


RESIDENTIAL INFORMATION

Current physical address, mailing address and telephone number.
Renters, please provide landlord's name, address and telephone number. Number of years at that residence. If less than 2 years, you may be asked for your previous address.


INCOME INFORMATION

Place of employment - including employer's name, address and telephone number.
Current gross pay documentation in the form of a pay slip or letter from your employer confirming your current income.
Proof of other sources of income -including any rental income or dividends.
A complete list of all your assets.


ASSETS

Assets include the balances in any bank accounts, your bank account numbers, and the name of the institution in which they are held.
Investments including term deposits, mutual funds, stocks, retirement accounts and current balances for each.

All real estate that you own regardless if there is a mortgage against that real estate and a current market value.
Estimate of personal assets. (jewelry, furniture, recreational vehicles etc . . .)
Vehicles that you own including the year, make, and model, of your car and the book value.


LIABILITIES

Any outstanding loans or debts. These will include, auto loans, credit cards, mortgage loans, education loans, loans you have co-signed, investment loans, etc.
The required monthly payment amount and creditor contact information.
